ok thanks!I would wait Nvidia is suppose to release new RTX 3000 series this year
Man I run my hardware hard right up until I can't run my games, then I upgrade. My 1070 still handles everything I've thrown at it @ 2000/4500 @ 1440. Once I start noticing lag/drag in my games, then I'll splurge
Really? What games/settings are you using? I had to turn a bunch of stuff down with my 1070 (with clocks slighty higher than that, like 2063, can't remember the RAM speed right now) to keep 114 Hz at 1440p in Titanfall 2.
Don't count on anything getting cheaper with the next gen.
I play COD MW, Sniper Elite4, and Wolfenstien Youngblood with everything maxed out on a 4k 43" TV as my screen. My framerates don't even drop below 125fps. Smooth as butter. Using the 432.00 Drivers.

Either his 1070 does like 4000 Mhz core, or 1920x1080 is the actual resolution of his 4k to get 125 FPS lol.Uhh what? There's no way they don't drop below 125fps @ 4k. The 1070 struggles on lots of titles maxed out even @1440p
Earlier post says he runs the card at 2 GHz and runs games at 2560x1440.View attachment 221640

I know if i enable vsync, then yes my frames will choke. I never use vsync so I dunno what to tell you. Wether you believe me or not is up to you. My 1070 doesn't choke or struggle with the games I play on my screen, thus is why i have no need to upgrade my card until I absolutely need to.Uhh what? This can't possibly at 4K. I'm guessing 125Hz @4K would be difficult for a 2080 or 2080TI. Regarding the 2000 clock speeds, I think that's well within the capabilities of a higher end 1070 with a good liquid or even air cooler, nothing crazy. I get mine up to 2063 using the auto-overclock system in MSI Afterburner. 4K would break it, even with my liquid cooling setup (Gaming X with an EK water block). pushing 125Hz at 1440 seems reasonable, though, but again, it's gonna vary heavily by game.
^^^ I've read with these 5700's you have to go into the BIOS and tell it to use PCI-e 3.0 if you do not currently have a PCI-e 4.0 motherboard, otherwise you can get stuttering/bsod's. I do not know for sure as I do not have one though
I never said I run my games @ 4K. What I said was I have a 4K tv I use as my pc monitor and I run my games @ 1440. Also I never said 125Hz either.
If you are looking for a 1070 again, I have a mint-ish EVGA 1070ti FTW Ultra (triple wide cooler) that I'm thinking of selling.I agree with you guys saying the GPU market is stale. I sold my EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 recently to free up some funds for something, and now I regret it. My R9 Fury and GTX 1060 6GB lag behind it quite a bit in terms of performance, and compared to what I sold it for even the used market holds a pretty poor value right now for anything faster than what I already own. I am gaming on a 165Hz 1440P display and I didn't realize how much I liked the extra FPS from the 1070.
Part of this is the rock-bottom pricing on used midrange GPUs from mining operations liquidating their stock. I paid $90 shipped for the R9 Fury, and $85 shipped for the GTX 1060 6GB. Most used 1070s of decent manufacture sell for around $180, and they don't have double the horsepower of the cheaper GPUs.
The cheapest RTX 2080 I have seen second-had was $450. That card is around 10% slower than a 1080TI for the same price (or less), and has less VRAM. Crazyness.
Says the guy who doesn't have enough posts to put something up in FS/T. Hmm.... We can discuss in PMIf you are looking for a 1070 again, I have a mint-ish EVGA 1070ti FTW Ultra (triple wide cooler) that I'm thinking of selling.
I've actually been a member here since early 2000's, but lost my password while going to school. I'm more of a lurker than a poster, and typically sell my stuff locally. No worries though as I'd be hesitant as well.Says the guy who doesn't have enough posts to put something up in FS/T. Hmm.... We can discuss in PM

Seriously I've cranked my card to it's absolute max @ 2100/5000 and every once in a while I would a get a little tearing so i backed off the mem to 4500. Aside of that, all my games are maxed @ 1440. Now if I try to run any of the games at true 4K, then yes my card will struggle to reach playable framerates with the occasional stutter, but at 1440 I have no problems. I was considering buying a 2070/2080, but decided not to as this Zotac AMP! Extreme 1070 does quite well for how old it is.Okay, just confusing wording then. I still doubt even 1440p maxed out you never drop below 125fps. Even in Apex legends I could not maintain that fps non-max settings.

I dunno what to tell you then. You must be getting bad data then, because there's no way even in a game like wolfenstein youungbood that a 1070 @ 1440p max settings averages 125 fps.
