We've got a huge DLP projector, and a really nice 1800W 5.1 harmon/kardon speaker and amp setup, with a new pre-processor. I took my PC down to the home theatre, and hooked it up to the DLP Projector via a VGA cable. I borrowed the fiber cable from our XBOX and plugged that into my SPIDF out on my motherboard (ABIT IT7 Max2 v2). I figured hell, what can beat 1800W of digital surround sound for doom3....
For some reason it seems that my SPIDF out is only outputting a stereo signal. The audio works and all, but I'm only getting a L and R channel when I do a speaker test. I know 5.1 via fiber isn't an issue with our home theatre, our XBOX and DVD player both do it just fine.
Other than the fact that I had to play it in stereo and used the pre-processor to make it more surround sound feeling last night, doom3 looks great on the projector. I'll have to post pics tonight so you can see how awesome the setup really is :->
So my question is this, how (or can I?) do I get 5.1 sound via SPIDF out?
Thanks for any ideas on how to do the 5.1.
