Creative Assembly is the EA of strategy games when it comes to monetization. They just get a pass from a lot of people because their games are actually good.Sorry, but it strikes me as more of an expansion on 2 than warranting the price tag of a full game.
.... their games are actually good.
In a sense, when they combine all of the regions and factions from WH1 and WH2, this is a super duper expansion. They're also exploring races/factions that haven't even been fleshed out in the Warhammer tabletop game/s or literature before (e.g. Cathay and suspected Nippon).Sorry, but it strikes me as more of an expansion on 2 than warranting the price tag of a full game.

Yes, I will continue my mod for WH3.
sitting at 4k myself, the late game slow down is offset by more races being alive at the begining. individual cpu turns take longer but there are far fewer empires than early game.I have maybe 1200 hours in WH2 alone, don't think I've ever encountered a slowdown in the late game campaigns.
So, after posting in this thread awhile ago I delved back into this game and plunked an embarrassing amount of hours into it.
Do you guys play multiplayer or just Campaign? I've gone to Turn 100 with just about every faction now except Dark Elves. I love the art style and aesthetics of Dark Elves, but I just don't like the play style. I actually completed a Mortal Empires campaign and secured every single province with Tyrion. I wanted to like the Tomb Kings SO MUCH, but their campaign is so brutally slow. I feel like it would take me 400-500 turns to ever get close to conquering the entire map with them.
I'm working on an Ikit Scaven campaign right now. It took me a long time to figure Scaven out, but I really am liking them now that I think I'm getting the gist of it.
Is Warhammer 3 going to be similar, wherein all previous DLC etc is going to be wrapped into WH3?
Preload is now available on all platforms. The download size is a hefty 120GB.

That’s ironic considering the unfortunate but obvious pandering to China by CA (and GW) with the MOBA-fied art style and Cathay. I think I’ll stick w/ WH2 for now - mods might help in the future.

I've given up trying to understand that nation and its citizens. They are review bombing WH2 as well. They probably don't like how they are pictured here.

That combined with Denuvo is just a complete shitshow of anti-consumer practices. I guess we will see what the WH3 Linux port looks like. The WH2 native Linux release dropped denuvo (at least I can’t find any trace of it).Epic Online Services is required to play the game on Steam. There is also no crossplay between the Game Pass version and the Epic or Steam version.
What is the actual verdict on this?
I don't really have time to sift through the reviews to see what is a real one and what is nonsense.
Seems the most common complaint is the narrative mechanics introduced with the Chaos Realm / soul race, because the AI basically cheats and it doesn't really reward the player. Patch 1.1 balanced this a bit, but many still want a sandbox experience like in Mortal Empires. You can also grab the Toggle Chaos Realms mod to disable the narrative stuff outright and enjoy a sandbox experience. What is the actual verdict on this?

Immortal Empires has made WH3 my favorite Total War game ever. Combined with 8-player campaign multiplayer, there's nearly endless replayability. What is your guy's opinion on Immortal Empires?
I've got a few hundred hours into Warhammer 2, and this go around it feels a lot harder. Could be I don't fully understand the new races though.

Quoting this because the Immortal Empires update actually reduced the file size of the game by 20GB due to an asset loading bug I found and patched in WARHAMMER III (note: mod does nothing now). Unfortunately, the issue still exists in WARHAMMER I and II, Three Kingdoms, Rome 2 and basically every warscape engine Total War game after Shogun 2.Preload is now available on all platforms.
