HardwareCanucks has an interesting review where they looked at a GTX Titan versus SLI and Crossfire with frame time testing included.
Basically they are looking for any frames that take over 40 ms (25 FPS), by looking at all rendered frames in FRAPS.
The Titan does a good job rendering consistent frame times.

I can't get a link to the review to work in this forum so you have to manually Google "hardwarecanucks NVIDIA GTX TITAN vs. SLI & Crossfire" to read it.

They found GTX Titan's average FPS 25% slower then the crossfire 7970s at 2560x1600 and 30% slower at 5760x1080.
In frame time standard deviation the Titan was 2.21 ms at 2560x1600 and 2.95 ms at 5760x1080.
The crossfire 7970 GHz was 6.18 ms at 2560x1600 and 11.02 ms at 5760x1080.

I found the frame time testing on page 10 of the review really interesting.
Let me Google that for you might work for the search: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hardwarecanucks+Titan+vs.+Crossfire
The crossfire 7950s seem to be struggling in a lot of games with lots of frames over 40 milliseconds, compared to the other cards
I'm not sure if thermal throttling is kicking in on their review cards or if the lower GPU core speed is an issue.

No it's because crossfire is a mess, but there is a way to fix it.

Interesting that their Crisis 3 benchmarks came up with fairly different results than [H]. Also, I'd be pissed if I blew a grand on a card and it was slower than two 7950s, which cost $520.
