I ran several custom Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMs on this phone and it was great, but then shelved it when I bought the new Touch Pro. This phone is roughly four years old, originally came with Windows Mobile 5.0, and can still kick ass. My friend has a beater phone and I moved on to the Touch Pro so I figured hey why not "bling it up" and give it to my buddy so that he can be almost as cool as me. So I hit the Internets to find what custom ROMs are still being made for it, and low and behold I find a guy that makes a nice clean Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM for the Apache! For those not in the know WinMo 6.5 is not even out yet officially though it's already being flashed on devices everywhere and working great. So I flashed it on there and it works great, no issues so far. So for all you ex-6700 owners out there, take your old pal out of the closet, give it a new OS to make it feel all happy again, and pass it on to friend or family. It's still alive and kicking.

tl;dr
Four year old phone is still good enough to run not yet released OS
I can has it for free, Windows Mobile is awesomely flexible.

I uploaded what I consider to be youtubes worst video ever for others to see how it looks on this old man device:

On a funny note, I gave this to my buddy and he was all happy and he took it home and his wife said thanks for the new phone and he's back to his old flip phone again. :p

Its good to see support for the older devices...not official, but just as good. It looks like MS is finally making some notable changes with 6.5/7. Can't wait to cook some ROMs for my Touch Pro!

wow, that looks pretty snappy for a 6700. i was using mine as a test handset for a while. i'll have to check this out :D
