Hello,

I'm currently configuring a HP Laserjet P4515 printer. It has its own built in Jetdirect so, all that jazz is done.

I'm having issue when I telnet to port 9100. I type the typical Jetdirect commands: ? / MENU and HELP yet I receive no information back from any commands I type. Even configuration commands. Typically, all this gets me is a printed page (since 9100 is also the print port) with the commands I've attempted to type. Some garbled, some not.

Is it possible something is wrong with my telnet client in terms of configuration or are the jetdirect's telnet features now depreciated? I've been doing about two hours of Googling and I can't find an answer to this problem.

Any ideas?

Don't specify a port, just use default telnet port -- should work right away.

Oh. Wow. Don't I feel stupid? I'm sitting here trying different operating system's terminals/telnet clients with different term emulation settings.

Port 9100 is for PCL/PJL commands. I even did nmap in confusion and I never really noticed port 23.

D'oh. As you can tell, I am not IT. :p

Thank you. :)
