take precropped screenshots?

this probably isn't in the right section but I wasn't sure where to put it...

I'm looking for a program that will allow me to press a button(s) to take pre-cropped screenshots and have them saved on my hdd somewhere. I want the screenshot area to be predefined so it takes that portion of the screen and saves it.

I want to be able to set that box up on my screen and my screen will change and then I press the button(s) and the screen will then change again and I will take another screenshot. I want to take 500+ screenshots so I dont want to do it manually.

You probably should have posted this in the General Software section of the message board, and perhaps a mod will move it. Anyway, I know there's software out there that will do just what you're looking for (if I understand you correctly).

I'm guessing you want something that's free. I'd check download.com and do a search for screen capturing software. Otherwise, I know off the top of my head Ashampoo makes a piece of software that does screen captures, and they offer free, timed trials.
