This setup was a lifesaver at my previous house. It allows you to have the thermostat in a different room than the wiring for your thermostat. It my previous home, the thermostat was installed in the hallway, so when you turned on the heat it would just run all of the night because we shut out bedroom doors and the heat never reached the hallway. Set the heat to 65, wake up in the night to a 75 degree bedroom cause it's only 64 in the hallway. This system has a thermostat that can be placed in any room, and a receiver that is hooked up to your thermostat wiring or directly to heat system. We would place this in the smallest bedroom, and it would accurately control the temp. No need for it at the new place.
