System(S) hardlock after install

I have 2 computers, specs are as follows:
1 gig AMD Athlon Compaq
40 gig HD
compq cd/rw drive
3.5 compaq floppy


AMD Athlon 1800XP
Shuttle MB
compaq cd/dvd
TDK cd/rw
160gig HD
60 gig HD
60 gig HD
10 gig HD

Both of the are running XP Pro w/ service pack 1
both have Norton System Works

I was stupid and installed McAfee antivirus in hopes to get rid of a few items that Norton cold not fix.
Now my Compaq takes ages to load and the 1800 hardlocks once booted and fully loaded.

How can I uninstall McAfee in the command screen during a safe boot?

Please help.
 
Can u just get into safe mode and uninstall? One idea is just to delete the folder it resides in then once u can get into windows normally do a proper repair WITHOUT restarting then uninstall?
