So my parents watch a lot of streaming videos on their computer. Is there any way to get those to play on their TV? Will WD TV Live do it?

Any other options besides WD TV Live?

TIA!

the sources have to be supported by the device typically. each device will have its supported sites listed on its product page.

Maybe I don't understand the question correctly, but I think you can just connect the TV to a PC as a second screen (in Windows it's called Extended Desktop), and drag the windows that is showing the movie on the second screen (which is the TV).

that is a possibility, but it wouldnt be too user friendly from a couch.

Then use one of those little remote controls that act as a keyboard. They even support media player buttons.

there are TONS of remote options...but the hassle of launching a web browse and inputting an address, or even navigating to a favorite, with a remote are sizable

not exactly OP, the WDTV Live will play most any media file out there, but it has to be either on an attached hard drive via USB or on a hard drive somewhere on the network and then streamed to the WDTV Live via Ethernet, but the WDTV Live has no "browser"

if they could get recorded files of the web shows, they could play them back on the tv using it sure, but you are going to need something like this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856173001&cm_re=zotac-_-56-173-001-_-Product

which is essentially a mini pc that will screw to the back of a recent LCD tv, hook it to the network, hook a HDMI cable to the TV from it and all you are missing is a media remote and or keyboard/mouse, basically its a cheap way to turn their tv into a PC as well, that particular one comes complete with hard drive and memory which is why i liked to it, only thing lacking is a dvd/bluray drive

Logitech makes a very small nice keyboard setup which would make it as easy as sitting in front of the computer

i am currently planning just such a thing myself in the future, going to wait until next spring to see whats out and then purchase, for right now i am going to get a WDTV Live and stream media from the pc across the network, web surfing, etc....will still have to happen at the pc

I'm a fan of the Cideko model - at least in concept:

Similar to a Wii/PS3 controller with a gyro for pointing. Thinking of pulling the trigger, but haven't yet...

nice find! only thing that would concern me is if you notice underneath it it says

What Do Customers Ultimately Buy After Viewing This Item? and Frequently Bought Together?

it doesnt make sense that people who bought that one also bought the dinovo mini.....not in 99% of cases anyways, so in my mind the only way people who bought one frequently purchased the other was if one was returned.......

Yeah, that's a valid point... but if it works 75% as well as I hope it does, it sounds like an ideal HTPC remote. I haven't seen much buzz about it, so that's a minus. Still intrigued.

I remember reading a review of this on Endgadget or Gizmodo when it was first announced. It sounded great from the specs, but they also had a YouTube demo linked to the article and it made it seem extremely awkward to use. That soured me from pursuing it any further. You may want to do some googling before you pull the trigger on it.
