streaming audio server

I posted this is in the software forums and didn't get much response, so i'll post it here instead.



I'm looking for some freeware that I can install on my ubuntuu server (no gui!) that will allow me to stream my audio so i can listen to it from anywhere.

I got icecast2 up and running so that piece is fine, but i can't seem to find a good source client.

I found MuSE, but can't seem to figure it out with command line stuff.

anyone know of anything better?

kPlaylist? I haven't used it in a while, but way back when, I wrote the original upload portion of the app. Another to try would be Jinzora

I use Ampache which will allow you to play and manage audio from a web browser. It uses PHP and mysql on the server.

I've been using GNUMP3d for a couple of years now and really like its simplicity.

If I have a reasonable internet connection I use SSHFS/FUSE (http://fuse.sourceforge.net/sshfs.html) and Music On Console (http://moc.daper.net/) - just mount your remote music directory locally via an encrypted connection (SSH) and play locally with MOC (or whichever audio player you want). Shrug. Very easy, all you need to do is set up and install an SSH server.
