lol after finally watching a full video with Cal talking I realized he is the guy who plays Ian in Shameless. I was like man he looks and sounds familiar.

reviews are out...sounds like a good but not great game...story sounds like the weak point but overall sounds like a solid game
Metacritic is pretty good so far: https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/star-wars-jedi-fallen-order
but you have to look at some of the sites...WTH is Gamers Heroes who gave the game a score of 100...and what is GamesBeat who gave it a 93?...the game sounds solid but not a perfect 100 type of game
Oh well it seems worth a purchase sometime next year when it's on a good sale.Yeah I think they just aggregate most reviews. Ars Technica had a pretty damning review: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019...eview-more-like-the-force-goes-back-to-sleep/
one thing I keep seeing in the reviews is how the Dark Souls-lite combat doesn't fit within the SW universe...a light saber is supposed to be the baddest weapon in the universe and yet even late game it takes several strikes to kill even the smallest enemies

13 Hour game if you are good.
Metacritic is filled with garbage.Funny enough, the opposite of what most people thought. A Star Wars game getting good reviews, and Pokemon getting shit on via Metacritic.
Guess I know which of these I'm playing first today.
Looking to be a solid game but still refuse to give money to shitty companies like EA, Bethesda and Blizzard.
it will only work wired if you dont have the pc specific receiver.I tried getting my XBOX 360 Wireless controller to work with Windows 10 to make things potentially easier

They dropped support for it in Windows 10. You need to wire up or get an Xbox One controller.I have the PC specific wireless receiver. The newest drivers for it on the Microsoft site are for Windows 7.

official support is dropped but i used to use mine by forcing it to use the win7 drivers. until it blew up earlier this year. then i bit the bullet and got a xb1 pc receiver and controller.Good to know.
What do you mean blew up? My XB360 wireless adapter stopped working, but I ordered a resistor then removed and resoldered a new one back and it is working fine again (but I use a PS4 controller normally).official support is dropped but i used to use mine by forcing it to use the win7 drivers. until it blew up earlier this year. then i bit the bullet and got a xb1 pc receiver and controller.
I played for about two hours last night. On PC, the game looks way better than it did in the pre-release videos which I can assume were all done on consoles. The game really does benefit from a controller as dodging on a keyboard is a bit rough. That's the only challenge I've faced with mouse and keyboard play. The only thing that bothers me about the level design, is (at least on the second planet) that it looks clearly like this is a game world instead of you moving through a recreation or simulation of a real place. In other words, it looks contrived as hell. I went to the Zeffo homeworld third, and it masks the movement mechanics and map design much more convincingly. The first planet isn't so bad either. It's clearly a game world in the sense that you can see the obvious platforming mechanics, wall grab sections and so on. However, the visuals in that are good enough to distract you from this fact most of the time. The view is amazing and the world interesting. It's dark, gritty and looks like something we'd actually want in Star Wars.
I also like the lightsaber customization so far as well. So far, the characters are solid, albeit a bit bland. Being only two hours in, its hard to judge whether or not this will change. So far, I like the 2nd sister the best out of the bunch. AI combatants are pretty easy if you encounter just one or two. When grouped up, they seem to coordinate their attacks so that timing your attack becomes critical. There is a sense of urgency as well because it never lets you block indefinitely. The game also punishes you for falling off of stuff and dying. Even the meditation / rest system comes at a cost. I like these elements as it makes their use something of a strategic choice.
Combat itself is relatively challenging and rewarding. Non-humanoid enemies can be cleaved in half, dismembered or decapitated. Using a lightsaber in a game hasn't been this satisfying in ages. More importantly, its difficult at times without being overly convoluted or frustrating. Some of you console veterans or controller users may find this a bit easier to play as your used to this type of game play. For me, its been years since I played anything remotely similar. I'm not much of a console gamer and though I do have them, they largely either play Blu-Rays or collect dust. I have a half dozen XBOX One games and maybe 12 XBOX 360 games. I had that console from launch to give you an idea of how much I used it.
I tried getting my XBOX 360 Wireless controller to work with Windows 10 to make things potentially easier, but that was a no go. As I said, I may just stick with mouse and keyboard if I can figure out how to dodge both left and right more easily. The way it is now, dodging left is easier given the positioning required for my fingers to hit both Z and a A vs. Z and D. I may try remapping this as well, but I may not find a good solution for this. Aside from this one thing, I haven't experienced any problems with platforming or combat. Though I will say the menus definitely feel like they were designed for a controller, and Respawn even tells you this when you first fire up the game. It encourages controller use.
The narrative is solid so far, though it absolutely breaks no ground from what I can tell. The only criticism I'd levey against it would be the pacing at the beginning.
What I mean by the pacing issue comes down to the seemingly non-existent time between your use of Force powers (which no one should have been able to see) to the time it takes the Empire to arrive in search of a Force user. It feels forced and a bit contrived. At the very least it raises questions. How did the Empire know you had used the Force only about 20 minutes earlier? How did they get there so fast? Were they just nearby? Did the 2nd Sister experience a Force vision of you? Did Imperial Intelligence track you down ahead of time because Cal had been there too long? A matter of equal plot convenience is the fact that your new friends show up just in time to help rescue you. These plot points are something that jumped out at me, and its sad that these don't bother me all that much given the state of Star Wars in films being so much worse. I still hold out some hope that how the Empire found Cal so quickly will be explained a bit later.
Good to know.
I don't let that crap bother me and I just play a game if it looks fun to me no matter who makes it.Looking to be a solid game but still refuse to give money to shitty companies like EA, Bethesda and Blizzard.
Isn't the regular adapter a lot more reliable than using Bluetooth on the pc though?Honestly, the Xbox One controller is such a huge upgrade in so many ways that I would just bite the bullet and move on. The newer Xbox One controllers are bluetooth now as well instead of whatever proprietary RF they were before which required an adapter. So if you already have bluetooth on your setup you won't need to buy an adapter.

I would like to agree but I don't want to support companies that are destroying gaming with their destructive practices that are spreading to th industry. A good game here and their will absolve all their wrong doings in the past. They have a lot to make up for before they have my trust.I don't let that crap bother me and I just play a game if it looks fun to me no matter who makes it.
I guess I don't play or have any interest in the games that are/were controversial. Well the only one I can think of was Dead Space 3 and I was extremely pissed off at EA for how they destroyed that franchise.I would like to agree but I don't want to support companies that are destroying gaming with their destructive practices that are spreading to th industry. And it is a common practice with EA. Forcing predatory MT in games. Releasing unfinished games under th guise of gaming as a service. Killing off deleveopers they buy up after a game that doesn't meet their expectations. They be n vote th worst company several years in a row for a reason.I guess I don't play or have any interest in the games that are/were controversial.
