Aegis day was a good day. Seeing that Idris in person is something else. It was also my first time checking out the reclaimer, holy shit that is impressive and absurdly large. I got lost inside.
Aegis day was also gank day. Between the eclipse and tali it was a whole bunch of free size 9 torpedoes flying around. Olisar and Grimhex had lots of pvp just outside the safe zones. One guy in chat said "What happened to my ship, it just exploded for no reason?". Meanwhile I just see 'crimestat increased', lol. The eclipse in particular feels like the ultimate ganker ship, designed only to ruin other expensive toys and with no other redeeming values. It's great.
I also played around with the gladius and warden. Haven't used either in a while and both were feeling good. The warden feels more useful with more space to explore. In the gladius I got in a knife fight with a sabre, the gladius was able to circle strafe ever so slightly tighter and keep shooting as we circled each other. He tried to shoot back and couldn't tighten the circle enough. But I had a hard time getting through the triple sabre shields, my triple panthers overheating and running out of power from all my maneuvers. Midway through the fight an eclipse shows up in the middle of us out of nowhere, no radar warning, we both assume it was here to help the other guy and we both stopped to blow it up. No one wants to get hit by one of those damn torps. After a long back-and-forth we both limped away in different directions, my cockpit on fire.
Fighter balance is pretty interesting now. Check out the weapon mount sizes:
Avenger: 1x s4, 2x s3
325A: 1x s4, 2x s3
Arrow: 3x s3
Gladius: 3x s3
Sabre: 4x s3
Hornet: 3x s3 (without top mount, +1x s4 with it, same for super hornet)
Bucc: 1x s4, 2x s3, 2x s1
Notice not a whole lot of size 1 or 2 in there anymore. A lot more unified pips and firepower all around. As armor, fuel instakes and the new flight model come in it will be interesting to see where things settle out.
