Sound problem on fresh install of XP.

hey all, me again. figured out what my first problem was (bad memory stick) and now after a fresh install of XP media center, i have a different funky problem.

anytime i log into my account (my wife has a different account) on XP, the windows music starts, then abruptly stops about half way through then i don't get any sound anymore.

any help?

i have an audigy 2 zs soundcard (it's old, it's crappy but hey)

Is your onboard sound disabled if you have it? Is anything besides Mic. set to mute in advanced volume controls?

i disabled the onboard sound in the bios and nothing is at mute.. the only sound i get from my system is the first 2 seconds of windows login noise and then it abrubtly ends before the login sound finishes and then no more sound for me.

Does your wife's account do the same? Have you tried logging in as administrator if not? Get rid of the audigy if the accounts all have the same problem or update to the latest drivers etc. I hate the frustration from one piece of hardware giving me problems
