So is the g92 8800 GTS worth $50 over the 8800GT?

So basically I have an EVGA 8800GT KO edition, paid $310 bucks for it.

I see newegg has the new EVGA g92 8800GTS for $359.99.

A) do you guys think it is worth the hassle / expense / performance gain of $50 to step-up to this?

B) do you think they will come out with a revised 8800GTX? If so, when?

C)Would it be better to see what the next gen will bring us?

Note: The invoice date on my 8800GT was 11/13/2007 so I believe the last day I could step up to anything would be 2/13/2008

A.) Up to you. If you buy an aftermarket cooler, it shortens that price gap from GT to GTS. If you plan on upgrading the cooler, do you spend $35 on it, or just get a GTS for $15 more?

B.) Rumors are Feb '08 for next major release.

C.) If you already have a GT, and have eVGA.. then definately wait.

yeah that makes sense now, I mean worst case I could step up to this in feb even if the next gen isint out yet

In my experience you're just as well off e-baying your card and buying the latest cards at slight discounts rather than waiting in queue, paying MSRP for step up + shipping costs + transit times. We also do not have a concrete date for 9 series yet; just some time during Feb 08, what if it's just outside your step up window?

I just ordered a GTS to replace my GT which will be going in a spare rig (1280x1024), I game at 1920x1200 so every little bit counts.

At $310 to "me personally" that EVGA GT is a rip off when you can buy a stock GT around $250 and you have a very high chance of spending 30 seconds and bumping the clocks to the same level. I appreciate EVGA has a step up program but you are really paying for it!

To me the difference between the GT and G92GTS is just over $100 if we are not being brand specific, and no its not worth it at $100, but if you must buy EVGA then $50 is.

Form me it would have cost an extra $90.00 to get the new GTS over the GT from NCIX and in the end decided against it. The review I read advised against it too. 8800GT 512mb is still best bang for buck card. New 8800GTS does perform a bit better but only by a minor amount. Best to get 8800GT for now at around $250.00 (don't pay premium price of $300.00 some are asking) and wait for next gen cards from Nvidia.

agreed...

and i did get raped on the price, but at the time i needed a card (had already ordered mobo and everything) so i wasn't about to wait for price drops.
