If I read the rumor right, I should be able to run a PIV 2.8E 533mhz Prescott in my Abit BE-7S with just a bios update?
Or did I miss something?

Ok, your probably right. Hopefully it wont necitate a MB change, but it probably will. Those documents sure arent very clear, are they?

would be sweet if I could run a prescot in on my e7205 chipset board.

I've had this question asked from DFI users about their P4 boards, and my reply is always:

we cannot guarantee that the Prescott cpu's will run in the boards until Intel finalizes the design and starts fabricating the cpu's for retail/OEM markets.

this just means that our boards (875's) support up to 2.8Ghz Prescotts now, but Intel could tweak/fiddle with the design before they are done and change it to where only certain boards can run the chip (and no amount of BIOS flashing will cure this).

we don't see this as being the case, but most mfg's are careful about guaranteeing their product will work with a product that isn't quite finalized yet =)

I suspect you will be able to.

My p4g8x run a 2.4C quite happily when it's only sposed to support 533's.
