I am currently using the onboard sound on my ASUS A8N-E. However I do not have speakers or headphones connteced to my computer. I use the optcial out on the motherboard and send it directly to my receiver. So if I got the AV-710 it would be doing the exact same thing my onboard sound is doing. But my question is, would it do it better.
I know the chaintech card is 24-bit, but does that matter when i'm using the optical out? Is the optical out quality higher on the chaintech card?
I am only interested in 2.0 / 2.1 sound quality from my receiver, so passing a Dolby Digital signal to my receiver is of little concern to me. I just want the higest quality in music from my towers+sub or from my Sennheisers which plug into the headphone jack on my receiver.
