Hey guys,

I've been looking around for a 2ndary touchscreen display for Windows 8 where the start menu would live. And I use a larger 46" as my primary.

So far the best option I've found is the Acer T232HL which has all the bells and whistles and adjustible stand. However $500 or so is still a bit pricy just for something like that....

Any tips on any cheaper solutions? Screen really doesn't have to be that large.

There are no good options yet in this market. I own the Planar, and am pleased with it, but it's too big for realistic use as a secondary display. I'm looking forward to the Lenovo, and will attempt to get one early. I'm wary of displaylink, though.

These are the projected-capacitive multitouch (10 touchpoints) monitors on the market, designed for Windows 8:

yikes

Yeah pretty expensive all around. For those prices you can buy a separate tablet. In fact I wouldn't have minded using my extra HP touchpad as my 2ndary screen but all the apps that allow that I read aren't very good. Too much lag.

I agree that thinkvision looks somewhat promising but the price is a bit too high considering the tablet argument.

Also I heard that you can't have the start menu o your 2nd screen always open and just use the desktop on the other. Every time you click on the desktop on the primary screen it'll close the start menu. That seems like an oversight.

IPS: Dell ST2220T seems to be discontinued..
If TN is sufficient the Viewsonic TD2220 looks like its available in the US and costs a little less than $300.

Just throwing it out there. Link.

EDIT: This one has a smaller form factor, but might not matter to you.
