What's the dilly, yo? I keep hearing about the BF, even read about it in MaximumPC, and it's on Samsung's website in the news. So... Where is it?

Would be nice if they'd release the damn thing so we knew and stop dangling it in front of us like a carrot!WLDock said:Would be nice if they were more clear....
Too bad I don't have any Frys within a few states of me. LOL Outpost.com, maybe?Jazz said:I just picked one up from Fry's yesterday. I just happened to call asking if they had a 940b, and they told me they had the 940bf instead. They held it for me, but when I went there I notice that they didn't have it on display at all in the store.
Nope, it's a 940bf.Jon/xpm said:Jazz- I believe you bought the 930 BF... Can you double check?
And how much did you put down on that bad boy?Jazz said:Nope, it's a 940bf.
$379.99.GilmourD said:And how much did you put down on that bad boy?
Before tax.Jon/xpm said:Jazz if you do not mind me asking
is that 380 with or with out tax?
Jon
Yeah I'm not sweating it, they have a really good RMA program that for $20 includes drop shipping a return mail box and I called and spoke to them. The gentleman besides being incredibly hard to understand stated that this was a "new monitor - just added to inventory and they've had alot of calls about it." If it turns out to be a B then I'll simply return it.Budwise said:lol, NCIX is showing a picture of a 940B...
currygoat11 said:I have checked the specifications of the Samsung 940B versus 940BF. See http://www.samsung.com/pdf/lcd_line2005.pdf. All specs appear same except:
940B:
Response time: 8ms
Regulation: TCO 99, FCC Class B, UL, CSA
Cabinet: Black/Black, Silver/Black
940BF:
Response time: I've seen 2ms and 4ms (Gray-To-Gray) listed.
Regulation: TCO 99
Cabinet: Black/Black (there are many pics on 'net of a Silver variety, no idea why)
And the 940BF is not available ANYWHERE in the U.S. that I could find.
I want the 940BF due to the claimed faster response time. But it sure would be nice to understand the underlying technical differences b/w these 2 displays. Also it would be nice if I could buy it from somewhere in this country.
Here are links to Silver variety of 940BF:
http://www.samsung.com/Products/Monitor/LCD_Analog/LS19HADKBEXAA.asp
http://www.marketingsamsung.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?prodid=383 (actually says "SyncMaster 940BF-Silver")
But you can get it just about everywhere else? WTF? BenQ did the same thing with their DW1655 DVD+/-RW drive...currygoat11 said:FYI Email from Samsung received today (02/22):
"Dear Sir/Madam:
Thank you for contacting us. I do apologize, but the silver SyncMaster 940BF, is not yet available in the United States. Also, I am unsure as to when it will be released. If you were to contact us we might be able to assist you further with an answer as to if/when it will be available to purchase. Thank you and have a nice day."
I'll post pics tonight. Its is super fast
He must be having a looooooooooooooooooooooooong day. LOLcurrygoat11 said:I'm waiting!
currygoat11 said:To follow up, the Silver model 940BF: I asked someone selling it (in Germany) and it looks like it's a 230-volt electrical standard (will not plug in to outlets in U.S. / Canada without some kind of adapter I guess).
Budwise said:i would bet that the 940B and 940BF are the same panel, just one is for US and one is not. 2ms GtG is very close probably to 8ms Black White Black.
Plus MaximumPC, a US magazine published in San Francisco, is pimping it pretty hard. But where is it???Bone said:In Europe both of them are available. And the 940BF is more expensive so it should be better. :-D
