RV790 die shrink before next gen?

I'm looking for a new gfx card pretty soon, and I was wondering what is coming to market next? I have been searching a bit, but it seems like there are a lot of problems with the 40nm process.

Are we going to see a die shrink to 40nm of the RV790 or do we have to wait for new RV8xx architecture for a high performance gfx card using the 40nm process?

That's what the rumors point to. That only with RV870 will AMDI use 40 nm for high-end parts.
