I have had a lot of phones result in bloated batteries over the years. Many of the phones cost about the same as a replacement battery. Today, I lucked out and had one model (3 phones) that I could wire up so that I didn't need a battery. That makes 12 more ARM cores dedicated to the cause returning to life.

Not sure on the temps scientifically yet but they do feel a slight bit cooler to the touch so far.

If you plug the charger in the phone the phone won't work without a battery installed? If not, wonder if it's just a matter of jumping the battery terminals.

Some phones will let you pull the battery and still plug into the USB connection. Most won't. Some will let you solder the cable as I just did and some won't. Every model is a bit different.
