Long story short, since the algorithm for the contrast aware sharpening was free to the public it was ported by a hobbyist to Reshade, modifying the parts that used rapid packed math and fp16, that reshade doesn't support, this gave it a small performance hit but now it can run on nvidia hardware, and also on dx11/opengl.
Sounds like it's worth a try.
