question - acer p191w

i just installed an acer p191w and set the resolution to 1440x900 (its native). for some reason my desktop is running off of the screen, so that i have to move my mouse to see that area. this is connected to a 6800 using the DVI cable.
 
no 1440/900 = 1.6.

basically what happens is the desktop runs off the side of the screen and when i move my mouse over it "slides" in the direction, revealing the inch or so worth of pixels on that side...

i cannot find a technical support number for acer on their site. if anyone knows where i can find that i could try that.
 
I thought I read somewhere that this monitor has an odd default resolution. Might check in to that.

Actually, it seems as if all of the sites say 1440 x 900.

This has me stumped.
