I've just about got my system done.
I replaced my old Coolermaster case with an Obsidian 750.
It's now got an X79 Deluxe board and I splurged on a Corsair AX 860i power supply.
One of the things I didn't like was the constant change of the fan speeds in the old set up.
I put it down to the Intel water cooler pump, but after the hassles with the H220 I realize it was most likely all the PWM Thermalright TR TY-140 fans, they are 900-1300 rpm fans.
The new Obsidian case came with 3 standard 3 pin 140 case fans. It's reasonably quiet.
I was thinking of replacing the 140 fans with Noctura 140 PWM units and getting a couple of 120 PWM Noctura's to replace the fans in the H220. The PWM fans from the H220 I was going to use in the bottom of the case.
Am I going over the top? or are the PWM fans worth the extra?
