Problems connecting to the same TF2 Server

So my roommate and I usually play on the same TF2 servers, but every now and then we both get disconnected when one of us tries to connect. The one person that is on the server will get disconnected and the one loading to the server will get disconnected half way through the loading process. It doesn't happen all the time, and doesn't seem to matter what server we are on. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

We're using TimeWarner cable as our provider, a Linksys WRT54G router and we're both wired into it. TimeWarner says our modem and connection our fine. The router seems to be configured properly and has the latest firmware.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
