possible to x-fire 7970 and 6970?

I think it was only crossfire 79xx together and 69xx together, you can't go between generations.

you can go between generations but no in different architecture cards.. for example the new 280X its just a re-branded HD7970 and can be successfully Xfired. but no 6970+7970.
