My psu (Enermax Platimax 850w) has 4x 12x rails and the pci-e 12v rails are individual 30a each with dual 8pin pci-e connectors on the end of each cable. It's a good psu, reviews show it capable of delivering over 900w easily. I was going to connect the 12v2 and 12v3 leads to each MSI GTX 980 ti which should supply 360w (12v * 30a) to each card's extra power inputs.. From my reading it seems those cards draw around 250w each real world, maybe 275ish with an OC - and 75w~of that is through the pci-e slot. I guess my question is will this psu / config be safe for these in SLI? I head says it should be ok, it will run the psu warm during gaming load but should be ok. I just am a little paranoid about pushing it too much. My cpu is a 3820 @ 4.6 and 2x ssds 2x spinners several fans... nothing too intense.

Am I being paranoid or is this gonna just work?

12 * 30 = 360 watts per rail. You can plug the card into one rail without issues. Besides, these PSUs are all single rail with OCP circuits for each set of connectors, not true miltirail PSUs.
