i've been out of hte loop for a long time now. i've had my laptop since xmas tis a sony pcg-grt100

it has a pentium 4M 2.2 GHz does it support hyperthreading?

I don't think so, all Mobile Pentium 4M should not have hyperthreading but most newer Mobile Pentium 4 should have it. (N.B. Mobile Pentium 4 M not= Mobile Pentium 4)

WCPUID may be stating presence of HT because it's a northwood core, so it has the same HT hardware as any other northwood core. However, it's not enabled in P4-Ms - this isn't unusual for features to be turned off. Intel has many more retail products than it has actual CPU cores, so features are switched on and off to allow Intel greater market segmentation. AMD do the same thing. Unfortunately, usually, as in this case, there is no way of turning those features on.
