I was wondering for the people who have had the chance to get there hands on the X800?How well does it overclock and is there much noticable diff from say a 9800Pro.
From some of the early stats i have seen floating around the net People are getting some very respectable overclocks on these cards  ?

My X800 Pro runs 24/7 @ 530/1120, up from 475/900. That's on air with stock cooling. I'm sure when I get a Water Block it'll do 550+ fine on the GPU because it does that on air now. I just don't feel comfortable running @ 550 on air 24/7.

It's much faster than my 9800 np @ 459/658. Great Card.

oc-rookie at XR ran some 640/640 benches using baker18's cascade phase-change cooling system (-110 C  )

Old Benches:
Aquamark: 79.326
3DMark01: 32,313
3DMark03: 13,540

My core seemed to top out at 530 with stock cooling. However my memory has been tested and is currently set to 550MHz DDR. So 1100 instead of the 900MHz default settings.

I'm going to push it further as I get time to test.

If you have a cascade, use it! ;)

I run it 24/7 at 500/500 without any artifacts whatsoever. Anyway i can check the temps on this card though??
Heres the table for potential performance gain in Far Cry at 1280x1024 2xAa and 4XAF (this is what i play at) at in-game scenarios; I did not use benchemall yet (will post benchemall resultsat a later stage) :

at a 20MHz increase in core and 20MHz increase in mem - 4FPS faster
at a 40MHz increase in core and 40MHz increase in mem - 6FPS faster

That if you ask me is quite a significant difference guys considering that the FPS were high to begin with. I am thinking this card has a lot of headway even on stock cooling as some of you guys have readily pointed out.

That's what I tried to use. A very small o/c resulted in a screen you couldn't read, all blurry.

I got my ATI X800 pro from Compusa.

It's currently running at 550 core / 535 mem

I get 10430 in 3DMark03
and
69250 in Aquamark3

Far Cry at 1280x1024, with everything turned up, looks awesom and gameply is smooth.

UT2004 at 1600x1200 with everything turned up has to be seen to be appreciated. The textures in some levels are so gorgeous, that you end up getting fragged while you're staring at the environment.

My overclocked 9800pro would get me 6050 in 3DMark03 and 47000 in Aquamark3.

oc-rookie got some updated benches (still with 3.4EE w/ Mach II and X800 Pro w/ Cascade -110 C temps)

not sure if this is still 640/640:

Aquamark: 83,063
3DMark01: 32,313
3DMark03: 13,540

Sweet.....good info I was wondering how much difference an overclock would make in FarCry.

Just got my ATI X800Pro this evening (it replaced my modded 9800Pro). I've done some benches at stock speeds and everything is solid, so I'm gonna try ramping it up.

What do you guys think of ATItool as a tester? Do you recommend it?

BTW: I'm in love with this card.....another great vcard by ATI!

Well my card runs stable past X800XT speeds. But the memory modules get WAY hot at those speeds. My core maxes out at 530ish. Memory went to 580 no problem. But as I said was way to hot for comfort.

running at 525/1120 currently.

I took it up higher but didn't really see much of a peformance increase so I left it at that setting.

10880 in 3DMark03

I had this same problem. I overclockeded the core and mem 10MHz each and when I applied the changes I had the same problem. This is my first foray into overclocking. Anybody have any suggestions?

Also, all of these results I'm seeing, are they with stock cooling?

I picked up a built by ATi X800pro. and with powerstrip I cant even get 1meg over with out my screen flipping out but with ATiTool 0.0.20 my max o/c is 570gpu & 560mem this card is awesome and that is with O artifac's.
My system spec's are
Gigabyte K8VT800
WinXP home
AMD 3200+ 2gig (claw hammer core)
ATi X800pro
512 megs of corsair xms 3200c twin pac
WD 80gig 8meg cache
Envision 17"

Use ATI Tool. Works great for me and everyone I know who's tried it. link

Volt Mod X800 Pro Question. You just connect the other two dots that are next to the ones to make it 16 pipes right?

That's not a voltage mod. It's a mod to enable the additional four pipes.

I use ATItool and it works REALLY well for me. Runs as it's own separate program so it's not all locked into your display panel like some other tools. It's very simple and convenient to use. It can easily be set to only turns speeds up in 3D programs (you could even set it to underclock heavily in all 2D apps), and it plays a sound (of your choice) to tell you when it's going to high settings. Setting that all up was a snap too.

Anyway, I run an x800XT-PE with a Thermaltake Extreme Giant 3 heatpipe/fan setup (with squirrel cage fan off).

I run at 552/570, but I can go as high as 555/575 without problems.

I generally like to run a little under my cap to avoid damaging the card as the weather warms up since my cap today may not be my cap when the ambient temperature in my office is 10 or 15 degrees higher (I really need to get AC in there).

I also plan on modding the heatsink on the TEG3 so I have two fans mounted on the top instead of the squirrel cage. That should help alot, especially with the memory cap.

600/590 is my max on air. Makes me nervious leaving it there, but I have run rthdribl for about 10min or so w/ no artifacts. I push the core any higher and the system hard locks / artifacts badly. My everyday oc is 550/550. Card is a bba x800pro.

Edit : had some bad grammer, and seeing the recent grammer police around here I'd thought it would be best to fix.

odd, but i can use ATItool to ramp up the clock on my watercooled x800 visiontek to 583/564. But when i use powerstrip, OCing just 1mhz causes the screen in windows to artifact and go nuts so i have to reboot. Anyone know why? i used the Powerstrip that was bundled with the visiontek software disk.

I have a Sapphire X800 ViVo Softmodded to X800XT speeds with all 16pipes open. :)

I suppose I could push it higher but I'm a little nervous doing that in humid summer here in Japan and my system being air cooled only.

Whats the best proggy to OC with ? In the past I used ATi Tool..

suggestions ?

First the obvious response.... Read the thread, this has been covered already!!!! ;)

Now the real response....

Powertool doesn't seem to work right for many people (including me), and Ati Tool works like a charm... Thus ATI Tool is the choice of champions right now.

ati tool works fine and all, the auto detect function seems to have worked. but heres the catch.

ATI artifact finder doesnt find anything, but when i fire up 3dmark2k1 and games, the graphics go nuts.

Dont even get me started on powerstrip, 1mhz over and it goes berserk
