Out of sync 2001FP using DVI-D connection

I am having difficulties getting my 2001FP in sync with my NVIDIA GeForce 2 Ultra card (64MB) upon start up. This only occurs when when the machine has been off for a few hours. I need to toggle through the input signals on the monitor until I get back to the DVI-D mode. No problems are encountered (the monitor and card are in sync) if one were to restart. I have the latest drivers for the 2001FP (Dell) and video card (NVIDIA), but still have problems on the initial boot up using WinXP. This problem was not seen when the analog mode was employed.

I sometimes find mine is eirther a blank screen or the pic is off to the left slightly

a simple turn off and on of the monitor solves it normally

thught its very rare it does it
3 times so far in 2 weeks
