I've got a computer with the internet explorer homepage hijacked to about blank.

Normally I know this would just be a coolweb search hijack, but hijackthis and CWSShredder dont find anything, nore does spybot, adaware, windows defender, sypware nuker, or such.

I tried removing it manually through the registry, but there is no hidden .dll values.

The about:blank page is just <html></html> in the source and there is no hidden url with an uninstaller.

Does anyone have any ideas on removal? Thanks.

Did you check to see if it's set to use About:blank as the homepage in Internet Options?

IT is, obviously, but if I change it, it reverts instantly.

If I try to force it with xoftspy, it reverts automatically also.

Ya wouldn't happen to have any of those antispyware apps configured to *prevent* changing the home page would you?;)

spybot has the ability to do that so it doesnt get hijacked, check in spybots settings to see if it is that thats causing it.

No none are configured as far as I can tell and spybot does not have it checked.

In safe mode it works fine changing the page, so I dunno what help that is.

Give SmitRem a shot. Not sure if it will work, but it clears up a lot of crap fully automated.
