hmm whats the difference between the ex and the zs, besides 5.1 vs 7.1 channels. i need a new sound card for my new receiver, was thinkin about the zs anyone have any experience with creative refurbished items?

shipping looks to be about $8 for me, and boo on the 30 warranty, ick

Well, I thought this too until I purchased a A2 ZS... and... the difference is night and day. The Audigy sounds so much crisper and clearer. Onboard sound is absolute junk IMO after upgrading.

the ex is an audigy 1 with the external (not internal) breakout box. The ZS is an audigy 2.

I have heard the breakout box can be used on the newer cards, though I'm not sure whether that applies to both internal and external boxes or not.
 
if it were an audigy 2 plat ex it would be a good deal... but its a bit expensive for an audigy 1 imo
