New Western Digital external HD and combo bard reader

Just saw this on the front page of WD's site and thought it was really cool. I was considering getting a external hard drive for all my files so it's portable. I already have a firewall card reader on my desk so combing the two in one box would be perfect!

It's uses the 7200RPM, 8mb cache, Special Edition, IDE drives.
 
thats pretty trick, for what it is ;)

My personal opinion of external HDDs is that the public would be far better served if they employed the 2.5" form factor laptop drive in them, as they are a substantially more robust design.
Of course then they wouldnt be able to offer the "sell" of the larger capacities :p

Aint goin to be that long before there are external SATA ports
be real nice to have that as a triple interface media hub

now thats a smart setup ;)

I use full towers and Rackmounts,
but if I had a space problem those look like a good solution
