okay guys i just finished my new "server build" It has a x4 9600 BE, 3gb of RAM and over 3TB of storage.
here is what i did,
Host OS x86 Vista Ulitmate, ideally i will be installing TV tuners and using it to record TV, with the HTPC off.
Installed Vmware Server
Installed Guest OS : WHS, allocated 512mb RAM and 1 Core and 300gb of storage
Bridged mode networking.
everything is up and working on the guest OS, i use RDP to access the host and guest os.
I really like the setup, but i do not have any backup of the Guest OS. I took a snapshot and it worked, but that is more like a restore point than a backup.
I have 1 datashare that is 300gb and then the virtual machine that i want to backup.
Can i just use synctoy to copy the data share and Guest OS from the host machine, while they are still running, to an external HDD?
I want to have a backup of the Virtual Machine (WHS) and the data share, so that i can take the backup, plug it into a different PC run vmserver and start my Virtual WHS from a new PC like nothing happend.
thanks for the help guys
