I bought a Dell XPS 13 laptop about a month ago. About 4 days ago, I put it on the charger and didn't try to use it again until this morning. It was plugged in the whole time. When I tried turning it on, I noticed that it was quite warm, but did not respond at all to pushing the power button. I tried it both with and without the AC adapter, and it remained quite warm after being off of the charger for an hour.

I've got a 90 day return window (got it at Costco) but I'm just wondering:
1. How common is this?
2. Is there a simple (and non-warranty-voiding) fix?

Oh, and I also saw that Windows had a failed update the last time that I attempted to use it. It crashed every time that it attempted, until it just gave up and booted into Windows.

...Now that I think about it, that was probably the first sign of hardware failure. The big question is, is it worth getting another one, or should I start my laptop search from scratch?

My wife had the XPS 13 9350 and got a similar issue. We returned it and got her the updated 9360 model and she has had zero issues.
