I just sold my rig in sig, got about $1500 to work with.

I been looking all over and it looks like the best deal is microcenter.

With tax that puts me at $712 at microcenter.
I have 6gb 1600mhz ddr already, so i dont need to buy ram. Ill just use 4gb of it in dual channel.

The question is what to do about the video card and monitor.
Im leaning towards gtx 470 SLI.


My options

GTX 470sli /w Asus 120hz monitor
GTX 460SLI /W 3 monitors
Single 470 and 120hz monitor with 3d kit
Single 5870 and 3 monitors. Cheapest option

BTW I found 3 Dell 2408 FPW monitors for $175 ea locally. Kinda scared of the input lag.

What do you guys think?

You're going to get some crap on the case. Other than that it's a solid rig. You just gotta pick your poison for the monitor/GPU setup. I'd be leaning toward either a 470 SLI setup or a 6870. Depends on what you want to do.

Im not really sure thats the case im gonna get, im gonna pick it up B&M, I might end up getting another haf 932.
 
Go with the CM 690/Corsair GS700 combination.

Go with the CM Hyper 212 Plus instead of the Thermalright MUX-120. It's a very good CPU cooler for a comparatively lower price.

Regarding the monitor(s), what are the "must have" specs and features?

Are you willing to wait for the new AMD 69xx video cards coming out next month? (Regarding video cards, NewEgg currently has the better deals, though it's near the end of the month.)
 
As far as the monitors go, on the rig I just sold. I had the Acer 120HZ monitor and loved how smooth it was, on the other hand I want eyefinity, but wouldnt mind trying out 3d. I thought the new cards wernt coming out till next year? If thats the case... hell yeah I can wait another month.

How would that hyper 212 handle a i5 at 4+ghz, My old i7 xeon was at 4ghz with a cnps10x extreme. I wanna pass it up if I can. That damn x58 board wasnt stable at any multiplier past 191mhz
 
Thought I would give you guys an update. Got everything and got it put togather. Havent really had time to overclock. Im getting some ram errors. Gonna head to frys and get some ram they have on sale later.

The cpu will load into windows at 4.0 ghz at stock voltages. Taking that as a good sign. My i7 needed 1.26 to be stable at 4ghz

I went with the 3 Dells. I got a 2407 for the center monitor because the 2408s have a bit of input lag. This is my first time with non TN monitors and they are beautiful.
My desk looks like an ICBM launch station. Ill take some pics when I get everything cleaned up.

Im gonna get some video of bad company 2 eyefinity and post on facebook asking the console tards if their xbox will do that.

Since I already have them. They guy I got them from is in the DFW area and had like 4 or 5 left. He wants 175ea. Let me know if you want his contact info.
