lt_shiro's build is definitely a good starting point. But to cur costs even further:
- Make sure that you buy the UD4P and Core i7 920 from this combo link to save $20:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.156590

- You can go for a cheaper case:
Cooler Master RC-590-KKN1-GP ATX Case - $60
Cooler Master RC-690-KKN1-GP ATX Case - $70
Lian Li PC-7B Plus II Silver ATX Case - $80
Lian Li Lancool PC-K7B ATX Case - $80
AeroCool Masstige ATX Case - $90

- And go with this DVD burner to save $5 over that Lite-On drive (once shipping is factored in):
Samsung SH-222F 22X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner - $24

22" is not "bigass" by today's standards, when many are opting for 32", 37", and even 42" 1080P monitors for their gaming rigs. The 23" that lt_shiro mentioned is at least 1080P, so you can even watch some HD content on there at full res. But if you don't want to spend so much on an i7 system, you can drop back down to Core2 and get an even bigger monitor, lol. ;)

Yeah, you would have had to look at my newegg build

The build listed in the post was my old system.

The newegg build had a 28" in it lol

Explain yourself... You ask for $1,400 build, which have we have posted with the best value and performance.

Sorry I didnt reply,
I agree with your i7 build. Im gonna tweak it a little. I got the macbook pro sold for 1500 and then sold my old hp laptop for 300... so im up to 1800.
