I have seen many threads with dead wrong information because people do not yet understand the athlon 64 in it's skt754 version. We need an FAQ for the athlon 64 and memory.

Athlon 64 is not comperable to the P4 where memory is concerned. It cannot even perform at 200mhz with some of the high latency PC3500 or higher dimms that P4's love.

P4 owners are mistakely advising those entering the A64 world to buy dimms they have overclocked on the concept that they can achieve similiar speeds. When in fact the A64 may not run stably at pc3200 with a high latency dimm.

None of the memory companys have tested memory above PC3700 and actually suggest it for the athlon 64 because all memory at PC4000 or higher is high latency.

Most overclocking memory is spd tuned for the P4 and higher latency.

You can totally negate the effect of a ram overclock on the a64 by changing the timmings. So that PC3200 at 2-2-2-5 has been tested to beat PC4000 at 3-3-3-7 in many cases.

MB Sticks of Corsair 3200C2 has a problem with being overclocked on A64. Confirmed on 4 mainboards. All voltages and timings.
