Need help with IR Blaster
Newbie needs some help getting IR Blaster to work !!!

Installed a hvr 1600 and the bundled softwares including IR Blaster.
Dish STB connected to hvr1600 via Svideo cable.
Everything seems to function correctly.
I can use Wintv2000 to watch and record live tv.

Programed IR Blaster for the Hauppauge remote to work with the Dish STB.
Only the Power Button will work, anything else including changing channels
give " C:/windows/ehome/ehshell.exe not found" error.
Checked the ehome folder, no ehshell.exe file.

Is MCE a must to get IR Blaster to work ?
I am running XP pro sp2.

Pls help.

It sounds as if the bundled software is assuming it's running on MCE. There are several apps that will allow you to use the blaster with XP (like Girder, or HIP) however these solutions may or may not interface well with the HVR software.

Several of the big PVR apps include native support for IR blasters. You're going to find most people on this forum are going to recommend using a better PVR app (for this reason as well as many others.) Whether or not that's within in your budget... only you can tell us.
 
Disc, thanks for the reply.
I had tried some other PVRs, such as Beyoundtv and GB.
They all work well with the card, but not the IR Blaster.

I am having hardware problem also, the IR emiter came with the card no longer
functions. The red thing sits infront of my stb does not light up when I change
channel anymore. I will have to resolve this with Hauppauge before I can
do more testing.
