Have you looked into dual core processors? When milti-threaded games hit the market you'll wish you had one.
;)

looks good to me man, very similar to what i plan on doing. have you considered DDR2 675 (PC2 5400) ram?

No DDR2 in socket 939.

Anyway, it looks pretty good to me, I'd probably ditch the Raptor for another storage drive, and go dual core, but the config you have now is pretty damned good.

Black and White 2 is already out. ES4 Oblivion will be out at the end of November. And there's one more coming out in the Christmas season. And those are just the "officially" confirmed ones. Who knows how many are under development for a holiday launch.

I would say drop the 4000+ and get an X2 3800+. They're roughly the same price (+/-$20) and the 3800+ will carry you a lot further. Also, switch out the Zalman for a Thermalright XP-120 or SI-120. And then strap on a Panaflo.

Everything except the processor looks good to me. I agree with everyone above me about going dual-core. I looked at prices on the 'egg and the 3800 is about $20 cheaper than the 4000.

Cant agree more. You can easily OC the 3800 to 4000 speed... with dual cores. :p

i would recommend an eVGA 7800gtx because it comes with a lifetime warrenty.

Thanks for the information on the TR XP-120 and SI-120, and thanks for all the other posts.

Sweet build. But I am going to have to be like everyone else and agree that you should go for the dual core. It will last a lot longer since newer games are going to use it. Bu other then that is rocks.

almost identicle to the system i would get, but i still have 1.5 months left for prices and new stuff

Have you already bought this or not?

I have half of it at the moment -

ASUS A8N-SLI PREMIUM MoBo
Lian Li V1000+ with SILVERSTONE 650W POWER SUPPLY
WESTERN DIGITAL 200GB 7200RPM SATA-II HARD DRIVE
WESTERN DIGITAL 74GB 10,000 RPM SERIALATA HARD DRIVE

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1

Just looking at the right 7800GTX and CPU

good system. screw dual core.

i did tell him i liked his system. the other part was a poor attempt at a rally cheer for the single core processors...looks like i need a new slogan. ;)
