I ran across this today. Certainly would be good for a high-points-density machine. It has four PCIe x16 slots and three x8 (full-length) slots.

No word on pricing or availability.

Has anyone built a 7-card machine based on one of these? Is there a CPU out there that is capable of feeding that many cards? How much production would such a rig have?

It's actualy been discussed (can't remember which threads), but you are limited to Single Slot GPUs and none of the newer higher end GPUs are single slot solutions (unless you're WC'ing and that is another can of worms all together)

Would be cool just to see one populated with 7 - 9800GT single slot cards though.

Its just not worth it.
If your gonna pay >300 for a board you might as well get a Dually that has 4x pcie slots.

Cool, yes, but kind of a waste since four 9800GX2s would outproduce such a rig and four GTX295s would be much, much better.

Now 7 GTX295s using some sort of PCI-E extender...

Of course, 14 GPUs would probably melt your motherboard chipset.

You'd hit either BIOS, driver or Windoze limits well before you got to 14 GPU's.

Luck .......... :D
