Midi controll interface for a video game?

Ok I am working on a interactive installation but ive hit a brick wall and need some help.

I need a way to use a midi controller (Device that sends midi messages to a host software like a midi mixer sends data to a audio editing program) for a video game and map it to either keyboard functions or a moddable game engine (Id prefer to use Unreal Tourny 2k4).

Any one have any suggestions? Seen any gadgets to do just this? Any software apps?

I am trying to avoid programing a full application from scratch to do this.
 
So far i have had still no luck what so ever cant belive nothing like this exists.
