Well I took the plunge and built one of these things over the weekend. It's been long overdue, but after I lost a drive with a lot of my collection on it about 6 months ago, I had no real ambition to finish this until now.

Here it goes...

HTPC:

Thermaltake Bach Media Lab case
ASUS M3N78-VM 8200 HDMI
X2 5200+ 2.7GHz
4GB Corsair XMS2 800
Antec 350Watt PSU
WD 160GB SATA (OS)
Seagate 1.5TB SATA (movies & TV)

OS:

Vista Home Premium x64

Software:

Media Browser MCE plug-in
Klite codec pack (x86 and x64)

TV:

Philips 47" 1080p LCD (47PFL3603D/F7)

Receiver:

Sony STR-DG710 6.1 ch HDMI

I'm using the same speakers as in my sig, and right now I've got an old Logitech wireless keyboard and a Microsoft Notebook Laser 7000 2.4GHz mouse that is working perfectly at about 11 feet away.

I'm also using a set of multi-color DIODER lights from IKEA for some ambient lighting behind the TV.

PICS: (not the best quality, will update)

Not really... the entire back of the cabinet where the HTPC and receiver are has been cut out, so there is ample airflow. I also do not leave the front doors on while I am using the a/v stuff.

I have only seen temps as high as low 30's at load. Pretty quiet, too.

Nice receiver, I have the same one.

Not really fond of the center channel placement, however, it doesn't look like you have much of an option.
