The Tt eSPORTS MEKA G1 PRIME Edition KB-MEG005USJ Red 104 Normal Keys USB Wired Gaming Keyboard is $50 on Newegg after rebate, I've been looking to get a mechanical keyboard for a few years now, I've been really looking for a cheap but solid, brown switch, full keyboard. So this looks like a good options, besides the ugly pink keys.

How much would it cost to get replacement keys for those 14 keys?

Are those O ring things worth it?

Is there any other cheap options that might be better?

Replacement keys for those specific keys only shouldn't be too hard if you look on http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/.

O-rings are more personal preference than anything. Some people like it, some don't. I personally don't care for them.

There are always more options if you are willing to wait on a sale. I believe the MEKA G1 is of decent/good quality though and you really won't get that much better quality unless you want to drop $100+ on one of the big name brands like Filco, Leopold, Ducky, etc.

So the keycaps are pretty standard and they should be the same shape/size?

I'll probably get replacement keys once I get my rebate back then.

$15 http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index....mber-row-cherry-mx-keycap-set.html#ad-image-0

$2.50 http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index....-size-1x2-25-cherry-mx-keycap.html#ad-image-0

$2.50 http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index....-size-1x2-25-cherry-mx-keycap.html#ad-image-0

$5 ($2.50x2) http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index....-size-1x1-25-cherry-mx-keycap.html#ad-image-0

So $25 + shipping for the keys, so I'm really not going to save anything on top of the $80 if I replace the keys.

So really my options are:

Spend $80 now, gets $30 back and have an ugly keyboard

Spend $80 total, and get replacement caps.

Wait and hopefully a good as or better keyboard goes on sale for $80 or less.

Whats wrong with the Poseidon or CM Storm?

Isn't the poseidon $90, and mostly sold out? CM Storm is $95 for the full sized brown.

Oh sorry they were both on sale recently. But yea the storm is a little more but $10 isn't a large difference in price anyways.

Is the CM Storm the better keyboard? How cheap were those 2 one sale? What's the best way to keep track of mechanical keyboard sales without checking sites daily?

I'd take the CM Quickfire XT over this Thermaltake.

I'd check /r/buildapcsales and /r/mechanicalkeyboards on Reddit. They're pretty good about catching and posting sales when they come up.

I just check the hotdeals forum daily sorry can't help there. It was only like $10 off though. I think I would like white LED"s and browns better than blues and browns, so I think I would like the CM Storm better than the Thermaltake I have now for that reason. But it's not all that much smaller than the Poseidon to make the strange 10key layout completely beneficial.

The quickfire XT seems too expensive for what you get (no backlighting), as well as the one linked in this post (unless you need the USB hub?), but I don't have one to compare with. It's likely you get what you pay for though.

I really don't care about backlighting, USB ports, audio jacks, etc. I just want 6+ key roll over, a full keyboard (need the number pad for hotkeys), and preferably a heavy keyboard (I don't want it sliding around much). I'd just much rather spend closer to $70 than $100.

O-Rings are only useful for people who bottom out the keys while typing in order to reduce the noise. If you use proper technique i.e. only pressing the keys to the actuation point, they are unnecessary.

I'll add to that; they're also good for more twitch/action based gaming if you use light switches and find the shock from bottoming out displeasing (I know I do). It wasn't uncommon for me to go through raids and get a bit of aching in my joints from jamming down on spamming a CD button between GCDs without any real cushion (MX Reds); there are times that you will bottom out regardless of your typing technique in these situations, if you feel the shock from bottoming out to be displeasing or may become so, using some sort of cushion is a good idea.

Thanks for telling me to wait, got the Cooler Master QuickFire Pro for $80 -$25 mail in rebate!
