Looking for help on a family's member rig

Hey guy's,

I have my niece's computer and I'm not 100% sure if it's the mobo or the cpu failing. When you start it up everything power's up but after 3-4 second's the cpu fan completely stops and then you hear a single beep every couple seconds.

There is no video signal whether I put the dvi cord into the mobo or the graphic's card. ( I took out the graphic card and I still have this problem )

1 short beep = memory failure

Either a memory module or a memory socket has failed. So try to reseat the memory modules. If that doesn’t work, remove the modules and try each slot separately with each module. If neither works try to acquire a working memory and retest it again.

Ok awesome ! I'm sitting on 1 stick right now and the beeps have stopped the cpu fan is running and I have a signal BUT as soon as the computer starts it freezes at the acer screen and I can't boot up past there.
