Even though the test showed it could clock up to 420 or so.

I had it at 390/1000. And I noticed these white specs showing up everywhere in
HDR demo and on the load screen in farcry. Its not easy to notice. I didn't notice
till a while later. I thought maybe cause of the driver. But lowering the clock speed
cleared it up.

I turned it down to 380/1000 is fine. The temp never passed 83c.

So was curious if anyone else is seeing this?. Still 380/1000 is damn nice
on a p4 3.0c.

The card kicks ass :)

those white specs are known as artifacts which happens when a video card is pushed too far.

like you did, all you can do is back her down to where the artifacts go away.

as for my 6800 GT, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones cuz mine runs 24/7 @ 420/1100 so I'm definately happy. :)

but like everyone knows, O/Cing is always a "YMMV" thing.

Sometimes certain drivers will cause artifacts in certain games. Though i'm not an overclocking expert.

I would run the 61.71 or WHQL 61.72 drivers if you aren't already.

Most likely you just found your cards max core speed.

Well I think I had the fan option turned on or something.
I ran the hdr demo for hours at 400/1000. NO white specs at all.
These white specs seemed to only appear during the load screen in farcry.
Not sure if the game the drivers. But playing the game I never get any white specs.
Been using 61.36. These have been working well so far.

The white dots are from your memory being clocked too high.
