Lion hanging randomly...

I have a strange issue in Lion on my Mac Pro. Thought this was related to my externals but after unplugging all my externals, still not fixing it. And I don't *think* I installed anything recently.

I'll be using the computer and suddenly a program stops responding. Then, when I try and close it from the dock, the dock stops responding. Then if I tab to another program, that program and tabbing stops responding. Then it beachballs and I can't do anything except hard reset.

A) I'm worried this is gonna corrupt things. B) This happens every 15 minutes and it's seriously disrupting my work.

How do I figure out the cause? Is there a log that will show what's going on?

This was happening to me last night. Resetting the NVRAM fixed it. After reading apple's description on NVRAM I don't exactly know why this worked, but it did.

While booting your Mac, hold down the keys Command + Option + O + F. This will boot the computer into Open Firmware.

At the Open Firmware 0 > prompt, type each of these lines followed by the return key:

reset-nvram
reset-all

Your computer will restart with NVRAM reset.
