Have been looking at picking up a Kingwin power supply (http://www.crazypc.com/products/7200.html) but noticed it was on the not recommended list. However, when searching for reviews, here's what I am getting.

Nothing but good reviews across the board. So is this particular power supply a good one and they just have others that are rubbish? What's going on?

None of those are real reviews though. Plug it in and it works? 10/10!

Testing power supplies isn't an exact science without a lot of fancy equipment, but we can come close by showing the voltage rails with programs such as ABIT EQ.
No you can't. Same goes for the second review, you can't trust software monitoring to tell you anythign. No idea how the third review got it's testing methodology.

It's a dated ATX12V v1.3 design, as evidenced by the hefty +5V rating. For $100, you can get a whole lot more real power. Corsair's HX520 comes to mind. More power, modular, quieter, more efficient, the works.

LOL....yeah, or how about this type of review; "when we plugged it in it did not blow up, so we gave the Platinum Blotch Award, 3 thumbs up!"

Have any of those guys ever heard of ripple current? Personally, I would not trust a Kingwin PSU to run any of my rigs, I have learned my lesson the hard way in the past. Ultra anyone?

Yup. Typical "Plug it in. 10/10" reviews.

Find someone with a real load tester, o-scope, etc etc..

For the $100, Corsair HX 520 at ZZF is your best bet.

Everyone else has addressed the reviews so I'll pass on that. As for that PSU....it is a SuperFlower unit from the looks of it so it would not horrible but the design is a little long in the tooth.
