ipod battery replacement program?

I have an old 3 gen. 20GB ipod that only lasts about an hour. It works great otherwise, but I was thinking about doing the battery replacement program at my local apple store to see if I could get a refurb there with the better battery (I guess, hopefully a 5G)

Has anyone else taken them up on this program?

When the battery on my 3rd Gen 40Gb started to die,I just went to Radio Shack and bought a kit(3rd gen battery and tools) for 17 bucks.Battery life went from 1 to 2 hours with my Beyerdynamic DT250-80's to 6 to 8 hours.

The program I thought was over, and last I looked. They just gave you $20USD or so off a new iPod.

I had the same problem with mine, I just got a new one. I don't think the program is around any more.. sorry
