How the FUCK do you create storage folder on your iPhone 4 so you can drop ANY files you want in it? PDF's, Excel files, Porn, etc and then access it like a USB thumb drive. I was able to do this flawlessly on my blackberry and windows mobile 6.5. Why is apple making this a bitch to do? Also, how the FUCK do I set any AUDIO file I want into a ringtone? Why is there 2 spreaker grills but sound only comes out of 1? No stereo sound like my blackberry bold.

WTF why do I have to go through all of that just for a ringtone? Thats just bullshit, it should be a standard feature on a device this powerful. Please don't tell me I have to go through the same bullshit to customize sound for notifications. Why can't I just simply just do all these simple things on my iPhone like I can with ALL other phones i have used? I have 14GB of storage and I can't do whatever i want with it? You mess with my ability to store porn you mess with my emotions.

lol serious cat. Should have done your research before buying.

For ringtones, with other phones I had to use a command line app to remove and recompress sections of songs, no phone I have ever had allows me to simply use a 4 minute MP3 as a ringtone. This is easier than that.
 
The iPhone is certainly a good phone, dont get me wrong. Thing is if I went to android, I will be limited to shitty apps. Trust me, I looked for apps on Anroid store and most of them are half assed at best. Until the android comes out with bad ass apps/games, I am sticking with the iphone. I am not an iphone fanboi by the way, a fanboi wouldnt talkshit about his own phone.

The only thing I'd really say (imo) Apple has the upper hand in currently is games. There are some games available on the Apple Store that I wish were available to Android.

Civ Rev is amazing on the iphone. Had some framerate issues on the 3G, but it works really well on the 4.
 
After a year with my 3GS and having to use that fucking iTunes, Android won me over within the first 15 minutes. All you have to do to move any file from your computer to the phone is drag and drop. Want to add a custom ringtone? Create a folder on the phone's SD card called ringtones. Drag/drop your ringtones to that folder and Android automatically recognizes them. Simple. Hassle-free. No fucking iTunes.
 
Every Droid phone I've ever used has really slow scrolling in websites and on the home screen. Has this been fixed yet?
 
What apps do you mostly use on the iPhone? I've found and use a lot of well made apps on my Droid. I have an app from my bank (USAA), for all my other important accounts (Personal Assistant - keeps track of all my bank accounts, CCs, Netflix, cable provider, Verizon billing/usage, Airline frequent flier miles, etc.), Acar (app for keeping track of all my vehicles mileage w/ graphs, maintenance schedules, cost of ownership in all areas), Pandora (even has a widget so you can control it from your home screen) and other radio solutions, and much more from large companies that are recognizing it. I'd say 90% of the big iPhone apps have been ported to Android by their devs and function just the same. When was the last time you've been on the Android market with a phone? It's constantly being updated. Every morning I wake up with at least 4-8 apps (2.2 gives auto-updating too, btw, but I like to see whats changing) having an update available which constantly improve functionality and stability.

Also, in 2.2 Android, if you want a custom ring/notification tone, it's as easy as going to the tone setting, clicking on it, then you have the option of browsing your SD card for any sound file/song you want to select. No work-arounds, rooting, hacks or anything.

Not trying to bash iPhone, but unless the apps you speak of just haven't been ported to Android, I'll guarantee there's a decent alternative. Most of the time there's a free version too.
 
The iPhone and iPod Touch have never been able to act as freestyle USB storage devices. Yes it's dumb. No I have no idea why they did this.

1) 95% of people using iphones and ipods don't know how to use Windows Explorer or even Finder on their macs to drag files from one place to another

2) DRM

Hate to break it to you but you can't even customize the notifications.

This is the Apple world. Use it as Steve Jobs sees fit or get something different.

yea i got the OTA this morning. Noticable inmprovements on Wifi , Scrolling, Camera is smoother espeically video seemed alot smoother.

FYI, Android will happily use 4 minute MP3's as ringtones. As did WinMo 6, as did WinMo 5 standard...

You can also long-press a song in the music app and select "Use as ringtone" :)

I can see where he's coming from though.

When everyone harps about how awesome the iPhone is and how it's the Jesus Phone and all... One could very safely assume he bought it off peer pressure of sorts (not pressure to buy but just being surrounded by pro-iPhone)... Having high expectations.
Those expectations shattered when you find out how crippled it is, especially coming from something like a Blackberry.

You can use dropbox to drop files into if you wanted. If you don't do a little research before you make a big purchase like this then its your own stupid fault if you don't get the features you wanted.

You've got to admit that the iPhone doesn't do alot of what practically every other smartphone on earth does.
When your entire smartphone experience to-date has you expecting something, and along comes a smartphon that's supposed to be BETTER, one would assume something as trivial as loading up your own ringtone would be included.

You can easily load up your own ringtone. Obviously it is not as customizable or open as android but seriously who does not know that about the iPhone? The iPhone is BETTER at some things and Android is better at others, its up to you to decide which one you would rather have.
 
Once iphone 4 is fully jail broken should be able to use pwntunes to drag and drop files onto the phone like a usb drive.

No ipod or iphone has been able to be used stock as a usb device so I don't know how OP didn't figure that out. People have to do research first instead of making impulsive buys on expensive products.

So you have to rely on a crutch (third party) to get your phone to do what it needs to do? Isn't that the beef most Apple fans have? Is that everything is included and easy to use?

Seems like iRinger is contrary to that.

If you really wanted it to be easy you could just pay for the ringtone on iTunes if you really wanted to. I don't care what you want to call iRinger, it is simple to use and could be used by anyone, just cause its not supported by Apple does not mean that it doesn't work. Anyone that wanted to put ringtones on their iPhone could download this program and their problem would be solved.

Well excuse me for trying something new hands on. I went to an iphone because I was amazed at the apps. If you followed up on the threads you would know I actually own an iphone, instead of jumping to conclusions and calling someone out for lying and trolling.

All im doing is complaining about the lack of features that are usually standard on almost ALL smart phones. Who the fuck researches for practical features like that? Education by research? Shit... I did my research and I thats why I made my purchase. The best way to judge a phone is to have it in your fucking hands and use it. I don't just experience shit on paper. Still a bad ass phone to me and I love the apps.
 
The way you worded your original post made it sound like you might be trolling. I did not say you were one either, just threw the possibility out there.

Just wait for a jailbreak and you will be able to get all those features. (And the phone only has one speaker on the outside not two, the other one is a mic)

iTunes doesn't have the ringtone I have.

Regardless, it's pretty easy to have that freedom your whole life. ASSUME it's a standard feature, and then arrive on another device that doesn't. It's just a basic feature that's lacking.

Would you, honestly, get specific enough in your "research" to make sure it allowed you to easily customize ringtones? I didn't think so.

You can easily customize ringtones though. And peoples biggest complaints about the iPhone is that it is not as open as some of the other OS. So yes I would get that out of my research and lookup those features if they were really important to me.

Right grille contains a mic for your voice, left grille contains a speaker.

You will do whatever Steve Jobs deems is most profitable to AAPL corporation and most accessible to the average Apple user's limited computing capabilities as appropriate.
